A NEW environment-friendly system that extends the nominal service life of concrete floors and reduces floor maintenance costs has been launched on the Middle East market.

The product known as Scofield Formula One lithium densifier and finish coat system has been developed by L M Scofield Company of the UK, which has gained a reputation for many of its products that contribute to Leed points in green buildings.
The system will be supported in the region by Hydroturf International, which has been the official distributor for Scofield since 2005 and is also the installer of all its products.
“The new Scofield Formula One line of liquid densifiers is designed to provide a wide range of solutions to the processed concrete market. Made of a high-quality lithium silicate formulation, which is VOC-compliant and cost-effective, the densifiers are capable of providing longer life and higher gloss for ground and polished concrete surfaces of all types,” says a spokesman for Hydroturf. “This superior formulation offers increased abrasion and water resistance, higher surface compressive strength, and reduced dusting.”
He says the system has been engineered to deliver beautiful, durable ground and polished architectural concrete floors where deeper penetration, increased surface hardness and faster shine development are desired.
Scofield Formula One lithium densifier produces a rapid chemical reaction, which penetrates and densifies the upper layer of the concrete surface faster than sodium silicate or potassium silicate formulae.
“It is a true architectural densifier, which results in a beautiful and durable surface that is non-toxic and environmentally sound. Once treated, the surface only requires periodic cleaning with a neutral or alkaline cleaner and water,” the spokesman says.
The product may be diluted with clean water on-site up to a ratio of 1:1 when treating high-quality, hard, steel-trowelled concrete floors. Porous or low-quality floors, or floors whose characteristics are not known, should be treated with the densifier applied full strength.
The finish coat is used on ground and polished concrete after the diamond polishing has been completed. It is applied to the polished concrete and then buffed or burnished into the concrete surface to improve surface sheen and water resistance.
Hydroturf Intern-ational is headquartered in Dubai, and with offices in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar and Oman, and dealers elsewhere.
