Concrete Floor Screeding and Polishing

We are a specialist diamond floor polishing company and can now offer both expertly laid concrete screeds for polishing and also existing concrete floor polishing to our customers.

In terms of project size we will undertake residential and small commercial works from 10-20m2 up to approx 250m2. For polishing only we can work up to 500m2 on a power floated slab to +/-3mm over 3 metres. Our machines require a good 240v supply at regular intervals around the work space. If this is a problem and the size of the slab is sufficient we can use the propane powered Werkmaster Colossus machines; 150-500m2 ideally.

A Polished Concrete Floor will really make you appreciate the advantages of having concrete as an exposed floor surface. Concrete polishing transforms a grey slab of concrete into a brilliant, easy-clean, environmentally-friendly and durable floor.

DirectStone uses a polishing process that makes concrete stronger and more hard-wearing. We use Werkmaster machines and diamond tools to grind and polish concrete floors to remove the surface paste and expose the stronger concrete and aggregate beneath. The result of this process is a stronger, more durable, shiny and beautiful floor. The environment and your budget both benefit too.

Generally we prefer to work with our own concrete screeds as the quality is much higher than that generally used in the building industry so the colour is better and the finished polished concrete will be so much better than that normally available and we can then guarantee our finished concrete polishing. However if the screed is already laid/arranged it really does need to be flat and level with no humps or hollows. Our standard grind will take approx 3-4mm off the surface to expose the aggregate. If we need to grind down a further 3-10mm to level out hollows etc there will be a cost implication.

We are happy to undertake full concrete slab screeding at 50-100mm and also 10-25mm topping coats to be laid over a new or existing slab so we have the base we need to give you a beautiful polished concrete floor.

We use only Carrcrete for our concrete screeds as it is by far the best quality concrete available for polishing. We can mix it with just sand for an ultra-homogenous finish to the floor or use aggregate stones of your choice (colour and size) to match your design schematic.

Carrcrete is also suitable for colouring and the concrete base mix comes in either grey or white and will accept standard concrete toners. Concrete is composed of pure natural materials; this is especially true when we install a Carrcrete screed for you.

Polished Concrete is available in four different finishes. Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze. This means you can choose between a floor with a matt surface finish or a high gloss finish with less to more of the aggregate showing through.
